Bookmarking has recently become one of the most popular methods of promoting your blog site. It’s important to branch out from just using digg and allow many bookmarking sites to tap into your post. Being annoyed with the clutter of many plugins (one for each bookmarking utility) I set out to find a plugin that included all (or at least many) bookmarks.

I found a really good wordpress bookmark plugin at Apostolos Dountsis that allows you to include all social bookmarks in just one plugin. The great feature about this plugin is that it comes with an options feature allowing you to pick and choose with social bookmarks are displayed at the bottom of each post. If you look to the bottom of this post, I weeded out the ones that I wouldn’t recommend. – any bookmarkings are much appreciated by the way.

Two concerns people have with plugins are

1. Is it free?
2. Is it hard to install?

Yes, it is free and no, it is not hard to install. All you have to do is drag the socialbookmarks folder into your plugins folder, click on “settings > social bookmarks” and it’s all picking and choosing options from there. I recommend using Facebook, Digg, Reddit, Del.icio.us, Technorati, and Stumbleupon. But I also use several others – as you can see below – because I had room for a few more. Using more than the number I have listed would be overwhelming, so I do not recommend using all social bookmarks.
