Bloggers Love April Fools Day

I’m sure as you’ve been browsing the web and watching digg feeds today you’ve seen non-stop April FoolsBloggers love april fools day Day posts and encountered several jokes that have even been somewhat annoying. Personally, I visits JohnChow.com from time to time and was quite disappointed when I clicked on a link he supplied stating “PPC Mogul Releases Hidden Secret to PPC and How Much Each Company Pays” – only to be taken to a page with endless amounts of popups, causing a browse session to end in CTRL + ALT + DELETE.

Google seems to invest a lot of time and money (they have it to spend) on creating the best April Fools Day pranks and have done it yet again with Custom Time Emails on Gmail. Many Gmail users were amazed when they went to login to their email – I can change my email to have been sent yesterday? That’d be an amazing feature, but sadly google cannot transcend the powers of time.

Is April Fools Day this much of a rage in any other industry? I doubt it. Outside of the internet, this has seemed to be a regular day. Bloggers have colorful personalities. The main reason us bloggers write is because we can’t stand to not have our personality noticed. We have to write. We have to have readers. We’re an interesting breed – If we weren’t, we’d be American Idle in the afernoon like everyone else.

Here’s the 3 main reasons why we love April Fools Day:

  1. We’re Funny
Bloggers are the internet’s stand up comedians. Although we can’t stand on a stage and crack jokes, we write some funny stuff. Sarcasm runs rampant in the blogging universe – And it’s well respected.
  2. We’re Creative
April fools day jokes (good ones at least) require a log of creativity. Who is more creative than bloggers? We sti here every day and come up with something different to write about while others would have writers block in 5 minutes.
  3. We admire others creativity
Another great things about bloggers is that we not only take pride in our own work, but we respect others writing as well. We like to prank, but we respect those who prank us – which is probably the most important part of April Fools Day. Everyone’s up for a prank, but how many can take it well when they’re the joke? Bloggers can, because we respect others wit and creativity.

So my word of advice to anyone reading who isn’t an avid blogger and doesn’t know the internet code of April Fools Day – Don’t trust ANYTHING on April 1 – please exercise caution before you grab your blackberry ad start texting your friend that it’s now Windows compatible. Because it’s not, and at the end of the day, after browsing the web looking for how to get windows on your B, you’ll be quite disappointed and somewhat embarassed.

Happy April Fools Everyone – Please share your pranks (or one’s you admire) below.
